Randy is a lifelong resident of Andover and Coon Rapids. He and his wife Dar have three adult children. Whitney and Weston have graduated from college and are working while the youngest, Cayla is attending the University of St. Thomas. They are active members of Constance Free Church in Andover.
Randy grew up in Coon Rapids and after attending Epiphany Catholic Elementary and Junior High School he was the Senior Class President and Card Capades King of his Coon Rapids High School graduating class. He earned his Eagle Scout rank through the Boy Scouts of America by completing his project for the Coon Rapids Fire Department.
Randy is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in interventional pain management of spine, joint and bursae conditions. He is a pioneering Physician Assistant with over 19 years’ experience and has performed over 36 thousand injections. He received his undergraduate degree from Bethel University in St Paul, Minnesota and after his military deployment to the Middle East, he attended The Stanford University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program in Stanford, California.
Randy proudly served our Nation in both the Army and Air Force as a combat/flight medic, deployed under Operations Nobel Eagle and Enduring Freedom. He is a highly decorated retired Air Force Captain. Over the course of his career, he has been recognized for his leadership successes and expertise in performing procedures while providing exceptional compassionate patient care. He is the past Commander of the Coon Rapids American Legion Post 334 and Chair of the Anoka County Veterans Council.
Randy has been a Small Business Owner in Coon Rapids for over 25 years. He believes that economic development is critical to the success of Anoka County and small businesses are the backbone to that success by providing valuable goods, services and employment. He is very involved and supports both the Anoka Area and MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce.
Randy is honored and humbled to serve on the Andover City Council. He has provided exemplary financial stewardship to the city, including setting yearly and capital budgets and monitoring funds. He developed a fair and balanced municipal budget to use tax revenue for targeted programs. He is proud of holding the line on city tax increases resulting in the city of Andover being in the bottom one third of all Anoka County City tax.
With Randy’s extensive background of over 34 years of public service leadership, Andover City Council, Healthcare, small business, and as a Veteran, he offers the experience, skills and values needed to represent the Andover, Coon Rapids and Oak Grove communities on the County board. Randy’s favorite part of serving our community is seeing the real changes he has helped to create and he hopes to continue his heart of servanthood in a new role as County Commissioner!
